The Battle of Nuceria was the terrible homecoming of Angron, the war upon the world that had forged and betrayed him. Nuceria had once made the primarch a gladiator-slave, and the hatred he bore it had festered across two centuries of galactic war. When at last he brought his Legion to its skies, it was not to conquer but to annihilate.
The World Eaters descended upon Nuceria in a red frenzy, slaughtering its armies and putting its cities to the sword. It was here that the Ultramarines, pursuing Angron's rampage through Ultramar's borderlands, met the Red Angel in his fury. Guilliman sought to reason where reason had long since died; Angron answered only with butchery.
As the killing reached its crescendo, Lorgar's dark design came to fruition. Amid the ruin of the world that had enslaved him, Angron was raised up, his mortal agony burned away as he ascended to become a Daemon Primarch of the Blood God. The transformation shattered the battle and scattered the survivors. Nuceria, the crucible of Angron's suffering, was left a smouldering grave, its name a monument to a son's vengeance made absolute and eternal.
