The Great Cannon is Kislev's heaviest weapon of war, a bronze-barrelled gun of the kind first bought from the engineers of the Empire and now cast, in lesser numbers, in the foundries of Kislev and Erengrad. In a realm whose foes so often come as towering monsters, mutated horrors, and the great beasts of Chaos, a weapon that can fell such things at a distance is beyond price. A well-laid shot smashes through massed ranks, shatters the hide of creatures no lance could stop, and brings down the champions that lead the northern hordes. Kislevite gun-crews are fewer and their pieces more precious than the Empire's, and they tend their cannon with a fierce, superstitious devotion, hauling them onto the walls of the great cities or into the line of battle on the oblast. When the Chaos host crests the horizon and the ground trembles beneath the tread of something vast, it is the boom of the Great Cannon that gives the defenders of Kislev their first cold hope.
