The Elemental War Bear is a beast of living winter, a colossal bear formed or blessed by the raw power of Ursun, the great bear-god of Kislev, its shaggy pelt rimed with frost and its breath gusting out in clouds of killing cold. Larger by far than the mighty bears that Kislevite riders take to war, it is a creature of legend called forth in the motherland's direst need, when the ice-magic of the Tzarinas runs strongest. Where it treads, the ground freezes hard and the air itself turns to knives; where it strikes, no armour avails against claws that shatter iron and a bulk that crushes ranks flat. The bear fights with the fury of the north made flesh, an avatar of Kislev's stubborn, frozen soul, and the sight of it rearing amid the snow lends heart to every soldier of the oblast. It is winter given claws, and it does not tire, and it does not yield.
