The Plaguefather

Ku'gath Plaguefather

The mightiest Great Unclean One in Nurgle's service — born from a single divine tear — who wanders the world with a bubbling cauldron, forever brewing the ultimate plague to lay at his master's feet.

Ku'gath Plaguefather is the mightiest Great Unclean One in the service of Nurgle, and in his own melancholy way the most devoted. He was born, so the daemon-lore tells, from a single tear shed by the Plague-Father over a disease so perfect it could not be shared without unmaking itself — and from that droplet of divine sorrow Ku'gath rose, carrying his sire's grief and his sire's genius in equal measure. Ever since, he has laboured over a vast bubbling cauldron, brewing new contagions in the hope of concocting the ultimate plague to lay at his master's feet.

He wanders the mortal world with his cauldron on his back, seeding pestilence wherever he treads and scattering the tiny Nurglings that bud endlessly from his rotting flesh, each a fragment of his own being. For all his horror there is something almost sympathetic in Ku'gath: a doting, disappointed craftsman forever failing at his single great work, consoling himself by sharing lesser plagues with a grateful world. He fights with a patient, sorrowful persistence, and where his shadow falls whole provinces sicken and die — a father's love, expressed in rot, and given without end.
