Lethis rises defiant in the Realm of Death, one of the few Free Cities to endure in the shadow-haunted lands of Shyish. Founded by the forces of Order upon the Prime Innerlands, it is a place where the living dwell surrounded by the countless dead, its streets watched over by grim sentinels and its people hardened by proximity to mortality itself. The banners of the Cities of Sigmar fly above its walls in stubborn defiance.

To live in Lethis is to accept death as a constant companion. The city's folk are stoic and unsentimental, for they know that the dead do not truly rest in this realm, and that the ambitions of necromancers and the Great Necromancer's servants press ever against their bastion. Funerary rites are observed with meticulous care, lest the departed rise again to swell the ranks of the enemy.

Yet Lethis is no city of despair. Its garrisons are steadfast, its faith in Sigmar unbroken, and its very existence a rebuke to the powers of undeath that claim dominion over Shyish. Here, in the land where hope should be impossible, the living kindle a stubborn flame, proof that even in the Realm of Death, Order can carve out a place to stand.
