Throwing Javelin

Wyrmslayer Javelin

A fyresteel-tipped throwing javelin of the Fyreslayers, forged to punch through the hide of dragons and the greatest monsters of the realms.

The Wyrmslayer Javelin is a weapon born of the Fyreslayers and their ancient grudge against the great beasts of the Mortal Realms. Cast from fyresteel and balanced for the throw, each javelin bears a long, cruelly barbed head designed for one purpose above all others: to bury itself deep in the flesh of a wyrm and refuse to be dislodged.

The duardin of the lodges have hunted dragons and drakes since the earliest days, both to prove their courage and to claim the ur-gold that such creatures so often hoard. Mounted upon their magmadroths, Fyreslayer riders hurl these javelins as they close the distance, aiming for the softer joints and unarmoured throats where a fyresteel barb can find purchase. A well-cast javelin can slow even a rampaging monster, letting the axes of the lodge finish the work at close quarters.

Because the javelins are wrought of precious fyresteel, they are never thrown carelessly, and a lodge keeps careful account of those cast in battle so that they may be recovered from the slain. To the Fyreslayers, each Wyrmslayer Javelin is both a tool and a trophy, and the greatest of their monster-hunters carry javelins that have drawn the blood of a dozen wyrms, the metal darkened by ages of scorching and slaughter.
