The Legion Storm Eagle Gunship let the Sons of Horus extend their spearhead into the third dimension, carrying a full squad of assault veterans over an enemy's defensive lines to strike directly at the objective that mattered most. Heavily armoured and bristling with guns, it could weather the storm of anti-air fire that met any such descent and disgorge its cargo of killers exactly where the Warmaster's strategy demanded, a command post, a breached wall, a wavering flank ready to break. The XVI favoured such bold, decisive strokes over patient manoeuvre, for Horus had forged his Legion to win battles quickly and utterly, and the Storm Eagle was speed and shock made manifest. Its arrival often marked the moment a hard-fought battle tipped irrevocably, as the Legion's elite crashed down amid the enemy and set about the swift, brutal work for which the sons of Cthonia were justly feared across the galaxy.
