The Legion Tactical Squad forms the crimson backbone of every Blood Angels host, the disciplined line from which the Legion's more storied formations are drawn. Even these rank-and-file legionaries carry the mark of the Ninth: a swordsman's poise, an eye for the artful stroke, and armour kept immaculate as a point of pride. In the Great Crusade they held ground and delivered bolter fire with the steady competence of any Legion, but a Blood Angels tactical line rarely stayed static for long, forever leaning toward the advance and the closing blade. Beneath that eagerness ran the same buried hunger that shadowed the whole Legion, and sergeants learned to read their squads for the first red signs of the Thirst as carefully as they read the enemy. On the muster-fields before Signus, these were the squads that would drink deepest of the horror to come.
