The Contemptor-Incaendius is a Blood Angels rite of interment given wings, a Contemptor Dreadnought fitted with a modified jump array so that even the Legion's honoured dead may descend from the sky as they did in life. Within its sarcophagus lies a hero too valuable to lose to death, his skill and fury preserved and married to a war-engine's strength. It falls upon the enemy with a speed no dreadnought should possess, landing amid their ranks with a shock that scatters bodies and shatters resolve, then reaping with fist and blade. For the Ninth the pattern is a mercy as much as a weapon, granting a dying warrior one more descent, one more chance to fight as an angel rather than fade in a still and silent tomb. Some whisper that the Thirst outlives the flesh, and that an Incaendius fights all the harder for a hunger it can no longer name.
