The Webway

The Webway is a labyrinthine network of tunnels and passages that threads through the dimension between real space and the warp, allowing travel across immense distances without braving the perils of the immaterium directly. Constructed in the distant past by an ancient and advanced race, it remains the preferred means of movement for the Aeldari, who alone retain the knowledge to navigate its shifting pathways.

Suspended in a stable pocket dimension, the Webway offers a route that sidesteps the daemon-haunted currents of the warp, making journeys swift and comparatively safe for those who know its secrets. Its corridors branch and intersect in bewildering complexity, some broad enough to swallow fleets, others narrow and forgotten, and many long since collapsed or corrupted by the incursions of Chaos.

The craftworld Aeldari use the Webway to strike suddenly and vanish, while their dark kin the Drukhari built their hidden city of Commorragh within one of its deepest and most secure recesses. Sections of the network have fallen into ruin or fallen prey to predators lurking in the dark. Access points are precious and closely guarded, for the Webway is a fragile inheritance from a vanished golden age, and its full extent may never be mapped again.
