The Storm Eagle Gunship was an assault-transport aircraft used by the Legiones Astartes during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy. Larger than the nimble Storm Talon yet smaller than the vast Thunderhawk, it struck a balance between troop capacity and heavy firepower, making it a versatile workhorse of Legion air operations.
Capable of carrying a full assault squad into battle, the Storm Eagle could deliver its warriors directly onto a contested objective before turning its weapons on the enemy. Armed with vengeance launchers, heavy bolters and other interchangeable ordnance, it provided close air support and covering fire as its cargo disembarked, then loitered to hunt fresh targets.
Many Legions relied upon the Storm Eagle for rapid strikes and orbital-to-surface assaults. The Blood Angels and Raven Guard favoured such gunships, whose speed and aggression complemented their swift, decapitating styles of war.
