The Kakophoni Choir

The Kakophoni Choir are devotees of the sonic arts, warbands built around massed ranks of sound-weapon bearers who treat warfare as a grand and hideous concert. To them, the destruction wrought by their weapons is music, and each battle is a composition to be conducted with care. They seek out worlds famed for their acoustics or their populations, staging symphonies of annihilation for the pleasure of their god.

For the Kakophoni Choir, the sonic weapon is a holy instrument. Its shriek can shatter bone, liquefy organs, and drive listeners to gibbering madness, and the warriors of the Choir wield it with the artistry of virtuoso performers. They speak of movements and crescendos rather than volleys and assaults, and they judge a battle not by casualties inflicted but by the quality of the sound produced.

The Choir's champions are composers of atrocity, arranging their warriors into precise formations so that overlapping blasts create harmonies audible only to ears attuned to Slaanesh. Some carry weapons tuned to specific frequencies, seeking the perfect note that will unmake a foe's mind rather than merely its body. Captured populations become unwilling instruments and audiences alike.

When the Kakophoni Choir goes to war, the sound arrives before the warriors do, a wall of scything noise that heralds their advance. Enemy lines dissolve into panic as the air itself becomes a weapon, and through the chaos the amethyst-clad musicians stride, savouring every discordant scream as a note in their endless, terrible song.
