Hag Graef, the Dark Crag, is a city of the druchii sunk in a vast, sunless valley of Naggaroth, forever cast in the shadow of the towering black cliffs that give it its name. No natural light reaches its streets, and its cold spires and grim towers are lit only by cruel witch-fires, a fitting home for a people who have made an art of malice and treachery.
One of the great cities of the Dark Elves, Hag Graef is infamous for its slave-mines, which bore deep into the surrounding mountains and consume captives by the thousand in their lightless depths. Its noble houses are a nest of vipers, forever scheming, poisoning, and assassinating in their endless struggle for power and the favour of the Witch King, and its highborn are counted among the most treacherous of a treacherous race.
From Hag Graef's black harbours the corsair fleets set forth to raid the wider world, returning laden with plunder and fresh slaves to feed the mines and the sacrificial altars of the murder-cults. The city knows little of open war upon its own soil, sheltered as it is within Naggaroth's cold heart, yet its every day is a quiet battlefield of intrigue where a careless word or a missed blade means death. Hag Graef endures upon cruelty refined to perfection, a lightless monument to the spite that drives the dark elves ever onward.
