The Black Coach is one of the most haunting apparitions of the vampire courts, a great funereal carriage of black iron and bone, driven by a shrouded wraith and drawn by skeletal steeds whose hooves strike no sound from the earth. Legend holds that each is bound to a vampire who died upon the road to immortality, neither fully risen nor truly dead, and the coach carries that restless spirit across the world in an endless, thunderous procession. It is a thing that feeds on death-magic, and so it grows stronger as the battle darkens around it: with each necromantic spell woven nearby the Coach gathers power, its outline blurring toward the spectral, its steeds and driver passing beyond the reach of mortal weapons, until it becomes a half-real horror that rides through solid ranks like mist through a fence. It crushes the living beneath spectral wheels and the scythe of its driver, tireless and unstoppable, an omen of the grave rolling through the heart of the enemy line. Where the Black Coach passes, the night itself seems to deepen.
