Black Orcs were made, not born — bred long ago in the slave-pits of the Chaos Dwarfs, who wanted a greenskin soldier with the squabbling burned out. They got more than they bargained for. The Black Orcs rose against their masters, cut their way out of the Dark Lands, and carried their grim discipline west into the tribes, where they tower over ordinary orcs like keeps over hovels.
A Black Orc does not brawl with his mates, does not chase loot, and does not run — ever. Sheathed in heavy plate and carrying an armoury of brutal blades, Black Orcs anchor a Waaagh! the way a boulder anchors a river, and other greenskins obey them out of a respect indistinguishable from terror. Warbosses prize them, resent them, and sleep a little less soundly the more of them they recruit.
