The Black Knights are the skeletal cavalry of the Soulblight Gravelords, the mounted nobility of long-dead kingdoms roused to ride once more beneath tattered banners. Astride the animated bones of their old warhorses, they emerge from graveyard mist in eerie silence, barrow-lances couched and shields raised, and descend upon the foe at a ghostly gallop. Their charge carries the numbing chill of the tomb before it, sapping the courage of even hardened soldiers so that lines waver before the impact ever lands. Where living cavalry would tire, blow, and falter, the Black Knights press on tirelessly, wheeling and re-forming to charge again and again until the field is theirs. They remember, dimly, the pride of the knightly orders they once served, and that faded memory lends their attacks a disciplined precision unsettling in the dead. To see them coalesce from the fog, lances gleaming, is to know the grave itself has sent its cavalry to collect you.
