The Magmadroth is a colossal fire-lizard revered and ridden into battle by the fyreslayers. These volcanic behemoths dwell in the molten depths of the realms' mountains, their bodies wreathed in flame and their veins running with liquid magma. To the duardin of the Lodges, they are living relics of the fire-god Grimnir himself.
Raising a Magmadroth is a mark of great honour among the Fyreslayers, and only the mightiest Runefathers, Runesons, and Runesmiters earn the right to bond with one. In war the beasts are terrifying, belching streams of magma, crushing foes beneath armoured bulk, and scattering geysers of molten spittle across enemy ranks. Their thick, ashen hides shrug off blows that would fell a lesser creature.
Each Magmadroth is fiercely temperamental and must be mastered anew with every generation, for the bond between rider and beast is personal rather than hereditary. When a Fyreslayer hero falls, his Magmadroth often fights on in grief-maddened fury, a burning monument to the warrior it once carried.
