Tanith was a world of endless nalwood forests, its trees so vast and its woodland paths so ever-shifting that its people grew keen senses and an uncanny gift for finding their way through the wild. From these quiet backwater wilds came hunters and trackers without equal, folk bound to the murmuring forests that covered their world from pole to pole.

On the very night that Tanith raised its first regiments for the Astra Militarum, the forces of Chaos fell upon the world. As the newly founded regiments prepared to depart, the enemy overran the planet, and Tanith burned. Only a single regiment escaped the inferno, led away while their home was consumed, and so were born the Tanith First-and-Only, a people with no world left to return to.

Homeless and haunted, the survivors became the Imperium's finest scouts and skirmishers, ghosts who slip unseen through enemy lines to strike where none expect them. They carry the memory of lost Tanith like a wound that never heals, fighting on across the stars with nothing left but their blades, their comrades and the ache of a green world that exists now only in their dreams. In the grim galaxy, even a planet may be murdered, and Tanith is its epitaph.
