Gloriana-class Battleship

The Photep

The Horus Heresy

The colossal Gloriana-class flagship of Magnus the Red, its libraries and pyramid-spires making it as much a temple of forbidden lore as a warship.

The Photep is the Gloriana-class flagship of Magnus the Red, mightiest vessel of the Thousand Sons and a wonder unlike any other warship of the Great Crusade. Named for the city-of-light on distant Prospero, it is a leviathan of gold and deep crimson, its spine crowned with pyramid-spires and its vast interior given over as much to libraries and reliquaries as to weapon-decks. To walk its halls is to move among the accumulated wisdom of a Legion that prized knowledge above all things.

Within its heart lies a repository of arcane learning without equal in the Imperium, scroll-vaults and cogitator-shrines holding secrets the Emperor Himself once forbade. Its corridors hum with warp-touched energies, and its scholar-warriors pore over grimoires even as the ship's lance-batteries carve traitor and loyalist alike from the void. It is a mind made manifest in adamantium.

When Prospero burned, The Photep bore the shattered remnant of the Legion into exile, carrying Magnus's sons away from the pyres of their homeworld and deeper into the arms of the Ruinous Powers. It became an ark of survivors and a vessel of vengeance both, sailing on through the Heresy as a monument to hubris punished and knowledge that had cost a Legion its soul.
