The Nicassar are a species of ursine, psychically gifted xenos native to the frozen world of Tranch, and among the earliest allies to join the T'au Empire. Sedentary and contemplative by nature, they nonetheless possess a rare and valuable talent — the power to move objects, even vessels, through the pure exertion of their minds. Where the T'au lack the psyker gifts common to other species, the Nicassar quietly supply what their masters cannot.
The Nicassar pilot slow-moving voidcraft called Dhows, gliding between the stars by telekinetic will rather than by the treacherous currents of the warp. This grants them a strange kind of freedom, for they need not brave the immaterium's horrors as human navigators must. Their expansion was slow and peaceful, and it was this gradual drift outward that first brought them into contact with the T'au, whose Greater Good they embraced.
Content to dwell in cold and quiet places, the Nicassar rarely take direct part in battle, lending their strength instead to the empire's fleets and expansions. They are a patient people, unhurried and reflective, their psychic might a subtle undercurrent beneath the T'au war machine. In an empire that mistrusts the witch, the Nicassar occupy a curious and valued niche — proof that even the Greater Good has need of powers it cannot fully explain.
