Segmentum Solar is the central administrative region of the Imperium of Man, occupying the core of the galaxy and containing the most sacred and vital worlds in all human dominion. At its heart lies Terra itself, cradle of humanity and throne-world of the Emperor, alongside Mars, the forge-world birthplace of the Adeptus Mechanicus.

As the seat of Imperial authority, the Segmentum is the most densely populated and heavily defended of the five great divisions. From here the High Lords of Terra rule a million worlds, and the vast machinery of the Adeptus Terra grinds through its endless labours. The beacon of the Astronomican blazes from its center, and the region enjoys a stability and security found nowhere else in the fracturing galaxy.

Yet even the heart of the Imperium is not inviolate. The armies of the Astra Militarum are raised from its countless hive worlds and marshalled through its fortified systems, ever ready to march to the frontiers. Segmentum Solar is the anchor around which all human civilization turns, the ancient center from which the light of Mankind still, however dimly, shines outward into the dark.
