The Vorax Automata

The Horus Heresy

The Vorax Automata was a class of battle-automata employed by the Mechanicum during the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy, built for speed and savage close-quarters slaughter. Quadrupedal and hunched, the Vorax moved with a disquieting, predatory agility that set it apart from the ponderous heavier robots of the Legio Cybernetica.

Guided by a rudimentary cortex programmed with hunter-killer protocols, the Vorax was armed with rotary cannon and lightning guns alongside brutal power blades, allowing it to run down fleeing infantry and tear through light armour. It was often deployed in packs, harrying an enemy's flanks and exploiting breaches in a battle-line.

The Vorax served the Taghmata forces of the Mechanicum and could be found supporting Legion assaults where their masters marched to war. During the Heresy its relentless, animalistic hunting made it a terror on contested worlds, unbound by mercy or hesitation.
