Ceramite

Ceramite is a dense, heat-resistant armour material used throughout the Imperium to protect its warriors, vehicles, and war machines from the fires of battle. Extraordinarily tough and highly resistant to thermal energy, it can shrug off the searing heat of flame weapons and energy blasts that would melt or ignite lesser protection. This makes ceramite the material of choice for battle plate that must endure the galaxy's most punishing conditions.

It is most famously the substance of Space Marine power armour, whose thick ceramite plates turn aside gunfire and blades while shielding the wearer against the intense heat of the battlefield. The same material armours tanks, walkers, fortifications, and the hulls of countless machines, wherever protection against both physical and thermal assault is needed. Often it is combined with adamantium to marry heat resistance with sheer structural strength, producing armour able to withstand almost any punishment.

Manufacturing ceramite is a demanding process, and the knowledge of its production is preserved and guarded like all sacred Imperial technology. Suits and vehicles clad in it are treasured and painstakingly maintained, for good armour is the difference between survival and death in a galaxy at war. Unremarkable to look at yet vital beyond measure, ceramite is one of the unsung materials upon which the endurance of the Imperium's armies quietly depends.
