The Thunder Warriors were the first generation of transhuman soldiers created by the Emperor, forged in the crucible of the Unification Wars to shatter the techno-barbarian empires of Old Earth. Cruder and more unstable than the Space Marines who would follow, they were engineered for raw slaughter, their bodies overcharged with genetic augmentation that granted terrible strength at the cost of a savagely short lifespan.
Bearing the lightning-bolt sigil that would echo through Imperial iconography for millennia, the Thunder Warriors bled Terra into submission, storming the Ethnarchy and razing the last free tyrants. Yet their gene-craft was flawed, their tempers volatile, and their memories deemed a liability once the Emperor's dominion was secured.
As Unification gave way to the dawn of the Space Marine Legions, the Thunder Warriors were quietly expended and erased, their surviving numbers hunted into extinction. The Imperium that rose from their corpses would remember only the lightning, never the men who bore it.
