The Custodian Guard were the golden warriors of the Legio Custodes, the Emperor's personal bodyguard and the most singularly perfected fighting men the Imperium ever produced. Where the Space Marines were forged in their thousands to a common template, each Custodian was wrought as an individual masterpiece, remade over long years into a warrior of unmatched skill, wisdom, and lethality.
They were more than guardians. Companions and confidants of the Emperor, they were schooled in statecraft, philosophy, and every art of war, their loyalty beyond question because their very being was bound to the Master of Mankind. Clad in auramite and bearing the guardian spear, a single Custodian could face down a squad of legionaries and emerge unbloodied.
Through the long years of the Great Crusade they seldom left the Palace on Terra, their duty fixed upon the Emperor's person. When the Warmaster's fleets at last turned toward the cradle of humanity, the Custodian Guard would form the unyielding heart of the Palace's defence against the storm of the Heresy.
