The Unification Wars were the brutal campaigns by which the Emperor conquered Terra, welding a world of warring techno-barbarian states into a single dominion from which the Imperium of Man would be born. Fought across ruined continents poisoned by millennia of strife, these wars ended the Age of Strife upon humanity's cradle.
At the Emperor's command marched the Thunder Warriors, the first augmented legions, alongside the nascent hosts that would become the Legiones Astartes. Tyrant after tyrant fell before them, from the false gods of the Ethnarchy to the last warlords of the poisoned wastes, until Terra bowed to a single master.
With Terra unified and the forge-worlds of the Mechanicum bound by treaty, the Emperor turned his gaze skyward. The Unification Wars were the anvil upon which the Great Crusade was hammered into being, a grim prelude to the reconquest of a scattered and benighted galaxy.
