The Siege Breaker was a Consular officer of the Legiones Astartes who specialised in the reduction of fortifications and the grinding art of siege warfare during the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy. Where an enemy sheltered behind walls, bastions, and minefields, the Siege Breaker was the officer charged with breaking their defiance.
Such officers commanded the deployment of heavy siege armaments, coordinated artillery barrages, and directed assault engineering to crack open even the most formidable strongpoints. Their expertise lay in the methodical dismantling of defences, choosing where to concentrate force so that a fortress might fall in hours rather than months.
The role was especially valued among Legions steeped in siege doctrine, and the Iron Warriors elevated the discipline to a grim mastery. During the Heresy, as war turned to protracted sieges of world after world, the Siege Breaker's cold science of destruction came bloodily into its own.
