The Void Dragon is the mightiest of the C'tan, the ancient Star-Gods who once fed upon the living energy of suns before the coming of life to the galaxy. In the elder days these beings were vast and terrible entities of living metal and stellar fire, and the Void Dragon was the greatest among them — a god of machines and annihilation, the embodiment of technology turned to ruin.
When the Necrons rose against their C'tan masters, they shattered the Star-Gods into fragments and bound the shards to their will, and the Void Dragon was sundered along with the rest. Yet legend whispers that its greatest portion was never truly caged. Ancient myth holds that the Emperor of Mankind himself battled and imprisoned the Dragon in the deeps of Mars in humanity's distant past, and that the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus unknowingly venerate this slumbering horror as their Machine God, the Omnissiah.
Should the Void Dragon ever wake in full, its dominion over technology would render every weapon, engine, and machine of the galaxy an instrument of its will — the guns of the Imperium falling silent, its ships dead in the void, mankind rendered helpless before a god of annihilation. It is a doom that waits beneath the red sands, patient as only an immortal thing can be, dreaming of the day the stars themselves are devoured once more.
