Zhufbar is one of the great holds of the dwarfs, carved into the cliffs above a vast and roaring waterfall where the waters of the Blackwater plunge into an abyssal chasm in the Worlds Edge Mountains. The ceaseless thunder of the torrent fills its halls, and its engineers have harnessed that raw power to drive a labyrinth of water-wheels, bellows, and hammers that make Zhufbar a marvel of industry even among the ingenious dwarfs.
A proud bastion of the Dwarfen Mountain Holds, Zhufbar is famed for its engineers and its forges, which never fall silent while the water runs. Its Engineers' Guild is renowned throughout the holds, and its workshops turn out cannon, gyrocopters, and cunning machineries of war that arm the dwarf throngs against their ancient foes.
Yet Zhufbar's position makes it perilously exposed, close as it lies to the fallen glory of Karak Eight Peaks and the greenskin-infested deeps. For long ages the hold has waged an unending war against the goblin tribes and the ratmen who swarm the tunnels below, its gates besieged and its lower deeps contested inch by bloody inch. The dwarfs of Zhufbar answer every assault with axe, quarrel, and cannon-fire, and though the hold has been battered and bloodied across the centuries, its wheels turn yet and its forges still glow, a defiant roar of industry against the encroaching dark.
