Itza is the First City, the oldest and most sacred of all the temple-cities of the Lizardmen, rising in vast and alien majesty from the fever-jungles of Lustria. It was here, so the sacred plaques record, that the Old Ones first set the Slann to their great work, and here that the earliest of the temple-cities was raised in the dawn of the world. Its pyramids are the most ancient monuments upon the face of the world.

Guarded by legions of Saurus warriors and watched over by the inscrutable Slann Mage-Priests, Itza is a place of profound and terrible antiquity. Its stones remember the coming of Chaos, the wars that broke the world, and the slow dwindling of the reptilian race across untold millennia. The Skinks who scurry through its temples tend duties whose purpose was ordained before humankind first walked upright.

Itza has never fallen. Through cataclysm and invasion, through the assaults of daemons, greenskins, and the raiders who covet Lustria's gold, the First City has stood inviolate, defended with a ferocity that borders on the fanatical. To the Lizardmen, its survival is bound up with the very Great Plan of the Old Ones. Amid the steaming, predator-haunted jungle, Itza endures as the eternal heart of a race older than memory itself.
