Floating Fortress-ship

The Black Arks

Monstrous floating fortress-islands of the Dark Elves, drifting citadels of dark sorcery that carry slaughter and slavery to every coast.

The Black Arks are the terror of every coastline in the world, vast floating fortress-islands wrought by the Dark Elves of Naggaroth from the sundered remnants of their drowned homeland. Each is a citadel the size of a small nation, held afloat and driven across the seas by potent dark magic, its jagged towers crowded with the temples, dungeons, and slave-pens of the cruel druchii. They are the engines of Naggaroth's endless raiding.

An Ark is at once a warship, a temple, and a prison. From its cavernous holds pour the corsair-fleets and armies of the Dark Elves, descending upon coastal settlements to butcher, burn, and above all to enslave. The captives they take are dragged back aboard in chains, destined for the altars of the Bloody-Handed God or a short life of misery in the mines of the north. Mercy is a concept unknown to their masters.

Bristling with reaper bolt throwers and warded by the dread magic of their sorceresses, the Black Arks are all but unassailable at sea. Whole navies have been shattered attempting to bring one to battle.

Guided by the will of Naggaroth's twisted nobility, the Black Arks roam the oceans as instruments of vengeance and greed, floating monuments to the malice of Malekith's people and the ruin they bring to all who dwell within reach of the tide.
