The Miners are the tunnel-delvers of the dwarf holds, hardy workers who spend their lives cutting shafts through solid rock in search of gold, gromril, and the veins of ore on which the holds depend. In war they bring those same skills to the battlefield, hacking their way through the earth to emerge in the enemy's flank or rear where they are least expected, bursting from the ground amid the foe's war machines and vulnerable ranks. Armed with heavy mining picks that serve as brutal weapons, and clad in the sturdy gear of their trade, they are as tough and stubborn as any dwarf, and their sudden appearance can unravel an enemy battle-plan in moments. Some carry blasting charges — volatile kegs of dwarf blackpowder — which they hurl or plant to shatter shield-walls and gates in a thunderous roar, at no small risk to themselves. Patient, grim, and utterly unfazed by the notion of fighting half a mile underground, the Miners open doors the enemy never knew were there.
