Naestra and Arahan, the Sisters of Twilight, are among the most enigmatic servants of Athel Loren — twin elf-maidens who are, in truth, two halves of a single soul, sundered and bound to the eternal turning of day into night. Naestra is the gentler, a spirit of the coming dawn who fights with sorrow and reluctance; Arahan is her opposite, a fierce huntress of the failing dusk who kills without hesitation or regret. Where one is mercy, the other is wrath, and together they are complete. The sisters serve as the personal agents of Ariel, the Mage Queen, dispatched to hunt down the forest's greatest enemies, and they ride to war upon Ceithin-Har, an ancient and mighty forest dragon that has slumbered in Athel Loren since the dawn of days. Loosing arrows of dawn-light and dusk-shadow from the back of their terrible mount, they descend upon their quarry like the changing of the sky itself. Beautiful, sorrowful, and utterly deadly, the Sisters of Twilight embody the balance the Wood Elves hold sacred — that light and dark, mercy and murder, are but two faces of the same eternal wheel.
