The Varanspire is the mountainous black citadel of Archaon the Everchosen, the beating heart of the Eightpoints and the greatest fortress of the Chaos Grand Alliance. Raised at the very centre of the Allpoints, it towers over the surrounding wastes as a monument to conquest, its spires clawing at a sky bruised by daemonic storms.
The Varanspire is less a single castle than a fortress-continent, a sprawl of walls, dungeons, forge-temples, and daemon-worked ramparts accreted over ages of war. Within its depths lie the stables of Archaon's monstrous steed Dorghar, the vaults where the Everchosen hoards relics and captive knowledge, and the black libraries in which he studies the secrets of every faith he intends to destroy. To reach its inner sanctum, a supplicant must pass through gauntlets of horror designed to break all but the most favoured champions.
From this seat, Archaon directs the campaigns that threaten every one of the Mortal Realms. Ambitious warlords and Chaos lords journey to the Varanspire to pledge themselves to the Everchosen, or to challenge his supremacy, and its approaches are littered with the bones of those found wanting. So long as the Varanspire stands unbroken, the forces of Order can never claim final victory, for it remains the anvil upon which the ruin of the realms is endlessly forged.
