The Present Age

The Era of the Beast

The present age of primal fury, when the god Kragnos broke free and the destructive impulse of the realms was set loose upon all.

The Era of the Beast was born from a single cataclysmic act: the shattering of the Ghurish prison that had held Kragnos, the End of Empires, for uncounted ages. When the Draconith and the God-King's schemes went awry, the ancient destruction-god burst free, and his roar of primal wrath rippled through every realm, waking the wild, savage heart of creation.

Kragnos's freedom lit a fire in every creature of Destruction. The Orruk Warclans surged from the wilds in their greatest Waaagh!s for an age, the Kruleboyz crept from the swamps with cruel cunning, and the sons of the mountains stirred to the beast-god's call. Even the storm-tossed cities of Order found the very land turning feral beneath their walls, as the metaphysical dominion of Ghur, the realm of beasts, waxed strong across all creation.

Sigmar's response reshaped his own hosts. The God-King reforged his Stormcast into leaner, wilder warriors — Thunderstrike-armoured hunters better suited to the untamed age — abandoning the ordered legions of the past for something hungrier and more primal.

This is the age in which the realms now teeter, where empires that survived storm and soul-war find themselves gnawed at by an older power still: the raw, untrammelled urge to break, to hunt, to destroy. The Era of the Beast is a time when the wilderness itself has taken up arms against civilisation.
