Malerion is the god of shadow, a cold and peerless schemer who rules the twisting Realm of Ulgu and wields darkness itself as both cloak and blade. Master of illusion, misdirection, and the dragon-magic of old, he trusts nothing he has not first deceived and reveals no plan until its edge is already at the throat.
Among the four aelven deities who reclaimed their people's souls from the belly of the Dark Prince, Malerion took the shadow for his portion. He and his mother, Morathi, were to have shared the shadow-aelves between them, but the pact soured, for she is no god's subordinate; she broke away to raise the bloody sisterhood of the Daughters of Khaine, while her son withdrew deeper into Ulgu's murk to nurse his own ambitions.
There, wrapped in shadow and secrecy, Malerion forges his own hidden people and schemes toward ends he shares with no one. He nominally counts himself among the gods of Order and the Pantheon, yet his loyalties are veiled, his methods merciless, and his true designs known to none. Allies and enemies alike suspect that the Shadow King plays a longer game than any other power in the realms.
He embodies the truth that shadow is not merely the absence of light but a power in its own right — patient, watchful, and lethal. Where other gods rage or build in the open, Malerion waits in the dark, and the realms have not yet learned what he intends.
