The Rock is no ordinary world but the shattered remnant of one, the greatest surviving fragment of a destroyed home world, hollowed out and rebuilt into a colossal mobile fortress-monastery. Vast beyond reckoning, it drifts through the void as the wandering citadel of the Space Marines known as the Dark Angels, a mountain of ancient stone and adamantium bristling with weapons enough to lay waste to fleets.

Within its labyrinthine depths lie the secrets that define the Chapter: sealed chambers, silent reliquaries and, deepest of all, the dread prison-vaults where the Dark Angels hold captives whose very existence is a secret guarded unto death. Here the inner circles of the Chapter pursue their eternal, shrouded hunt, and here penitents are questioned in ways from which few return.

The Rock roams the galaxy as both bastion and warship, launching the Dark Angels upon their campaigns and withdrawing again into the dark. Its outer surface is a fortified wilderness of broken towers and gun-emplacements, its interior a maze that only the initiated may safely tread. In the grim present it endures as one of the most formidable strongholds in the Imperium, a fragment of a dead world that carries the shame, the strength and the buried sins of a Chapter forever chasing its own dark past.
