Scintilla is the beating heart of the Calixis Sector, a hive world of untold billions and the seat of the Lord Sector who rules that vast and troubled expanse in the Emperor's name. Its great hives, Hive Sibellus and Hive Tarsus chief among them, rise like mountains of rockcrete and steel above ash-choked wastes, their upper spires gleaming with the wealth of a thousand worlds while their depths rot with poverty and sin.

As the sector capital, Scintilla is a place of endless commerce and endless corruption. Noble houses scheme in gilded halls, the great trade-guilds move fortunes across the void, and beneath it all the Imperial Agents of the Inquisition hunt the heretic, the mutant and the witch through the teeming underhives. Few worlds harbour so many secrets, or so many souls willing to sell them.

For all its splendour, Scintilla is a world balanced on a knife's edge. Cults fester in its lower reaches, xenos influence seeps through its markets, and the ever-present threat of the Warp gnaws at the sector's edges. Yet it endures, vast and unquenchable, tithing its numberless masses to the Imperial war machine. To rise in Scintilla is to touch true power; to fall is to vanish into its bottomless depths without trace.
