Flame Weapon

Flamer

A weapon of terror and purgation that spews clinging, burning promethium in a roaring tide no cover can turn aside.

The flamer is a weapon of terror and purgation, spewing a gout of burning promethium that clings to everything it touches and burns until there is nothing left. It need not be aimed with care; it washes across trenches, doorways and packed ranks in a roaring tide of fire that no cover can wholly turn aside, filling every crevice with flame.

The flamer is beloved wherever the Imperium wishes to cleanse rather than merely kill. Its flame flushes foes from bunkers and burrows, denies ground to charging hordes, and inflicts a horror that las-fire cannot, for there are few deaths a soldier dreads more than to be swallowed by fire. Against massed, lightly armoured enemies it is without equal, a single sweep reaping what a dozen rifles could not.

It is carried by the Adepta Sororitas, who wield it as a holy instrument and name its fire sacred, and by Space Marines, Guardsmen and tech-adepts across the galaxy. To the faithful, the flamer's roar is the sound of heresy being burned from the galaxy one soul at a time, and the reek of scorched promethium is the incense of a battlefield purge. Crude to build and simple to use, it remains one of the Imperium's most feared instruments of war. Few weapons are so hated by those on the receiving end, and few so trusted by those who must clear a warren of foes room by screaming room, purging each in a wash of flame before moving on to the next.
