Power Weapon

Chainfist

A power fist fitted with a grinding chainblade, built to chew through bulkheads, bunker walls and the hulls of war-engines.

The chainfist is a power fist with a monstrous purpose: the breaching of the unbreachable. To the crushing armoured gauntlet is fixed a heavy chainblade, and where a power fist merely smashes, the chainfist grinds. Its disruptor-sheathed teeth chew through bulkheads, bunker walls and the hull plating of war-engines that would shrug off any lesser weapon, opening them like tins.

It is a specialist's tool, heavy and slow, and is carried almost exclusively by the Terminators of the Adeptus Astartes, whose Tactical Dreadnought armour can bear its considerable weight. In the crawlspaces and sealed decks of a boarding action, where corridors turn every advance into a grinding brawl, a chainfist is the key that opens any door — and the enemy behind it.

Against vehicles and fortifications the chainfist is without peer among hand weapons. A single warrior can climb an enemy tank, drive the roaring blade through its armour, and gut its crew where they sit, or tear open a walking Dreadnought to reach the pilot within. It is a weapon of patient, deliberate destruction rather than swift slaughter, wielded by warriors who mean to reduce the enemy's strongest points to so much torn and smoking wreckage. Its work is never elegant, but it is certain, and a foe who has sealed himself behind adamantium and ceramite learns that no wall in the galaxy is proof against a Terminator with all the patience of the grave and a chainfist to open the way.
