Sacred standard

The Banner of Macragge

The ancient standard of the Ultramarines, woven with ten thousand years of victory and carried to inspire an entire Chapter.

The Banner of Macragge is the beating heart of the Ultramarines' martial pride, a standard whose threads bear the names and honours of ten thousand years of triumph. Raised above the First Company in the direst battles, it is a rallying point visible through smoke and slaughter, a promise that the sons of Guilliman do not break and do not run.

Every victory won by the Chapter is stitched into its fabric, every campaign and every fallen hero remembered in gold and blue. To the warriors of the Space Marines descended from the Ultramarines, the banner is more than cloth; it is the living memory of the Chapter made manifest, an artefact that carries the weight of Macragge itself onto every battlefield where it flies.

Where the Banner of Macragge is unfurled, courage hardens into certainty. Battle-brothers who look upon it fight with redoubled resolve, and the standard bearer who carries it accepts a sacred duty, for the honour of the Chapter rides upon his shoulders. To let it fall is a shame beyond bearing; to hold it aloft amid the enemy's fiercest assault is to embody everything the Ultramarines stand for. It has flown over the walls of besieged fortress worlds and through the storms of the Great Rift, and so long as it endures, so too does the unbroken legacy of the sons of Guilliman.
