The Krios Battle Tank was a mainstay armoured vehicle of the Mechanicum's Taghmata armies during the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy. A low, heavily armoured hull mounted on tracked drive systems, the Krios was distinguished by its exotic energy weaponry rather than conventional cannon.
Most commonly it carried a lightning cannon or pulsar-fusil, arc-based armaments that reflected the arcane craft of the Priesthood of Mars. This gave the Krios a role as a versatile gun-platform able to engage armour and massed infantry alike, and a variant known as the Krios Venator was fielded as a dedicated tank-hunter with a heavier las-impulsor.
Produced and maintained by the Mechanicum, the Krios formed the armoured backbone of Cult Mechanicum forces and frequently fought alongside the Solar Auxilia and Legion armour. During the Heresy it served both loyalist and traitor Mechanicum factions across countless battlefields.
