The Farsight Enclaves are a breakaway realm of the T'au Empire, founded by the legendary warrior Commander Farsight beyond the eastern reaches of T'au space. Once the Empire's greatest hero, Farsight led a crusade against a tide of Orks, then severed ties with his masters and carved out an independent domain among the stars, ruled from his fortress world.
The reasons for Farsight's schism remain contested. Some say he grew disillusioned with the Ethereals, discovering secrets about them he could not abide; others whisper of the corrupting influence of a mysterious relic blade he bears. Whatever the truth, the Enclaves reject the direct rule of the Ethereal Caste, a heresy unthinkable within the wider Empire.
Despite their independence, the T'au of the Enclaves remain fierce believers in the Greater Good, if by their own interpretation. They are hardened warriors, forged by endless war against the alien hordes that beset their borders, and Farsight himself endures far beyond a normal T'au lifespan.
