Ten thousand years ago the planet Krieg rose in rebellion against the Imperium, and though a loyalist faction eventually reclaimed it through centuries of nuclear civil war, the guilt of that betrayal has never faded from the Kriegsmen's souls.
Raised in vast subterranean hive-vaults and grown in birthing tanks, the men of Krieg are conditioned from the first to embrace death in the Emperor's service. They wear greatcoats and gas masks that hide their faces, advancing through no man's land with an unflinching resolve that borders on the suicidal. Trench warfare, siege lines and hopeless assaults are their trade, and they endure horrors that would break any other regiment.
