Spear

Elven War Spear

The long, elegant war spear of the High Elf Spearmen, wielded in flawless disciplined ranks that present an unbroken hedge of gleaming steel points.

The warriors of the High Elf Realms have perfected the art of the spear over centuries beyond mortal reckoning, and the Elven War Spear is the fruit of that long mastery. Slender and perfectly balanced, its haft wrought from ithilmar-shod ash and its head a leaf of gleaming Ulthuani steel, the spear is longer than those of other realms, allowing rank upon rank of elven soldiers to bring their points to bear against a single foe.

Where lesser armies see the spear as a peasant's weapon, the High Elves regard its mastery as a discipline worthy of a lifetime. The citizen-levies who take up arms in defence of their kingdoms drill until their formations move as one, presenting a bristling hedge of steel that no charge can easily break. Behind their tall shields and levelled spears, the Spearmen of Ulthuan hold the line with a serene, unshakable poise that has broken the fury of orcs, the terror of the undead, and the corruption of Chaos alike.

The elves fight with an economy of motion that seems almost effortless, each thrust precise and unhurried even amid the chaos of battle. An enemy who hurls himself against a wall of elven spears finds every gap closed, every opening met with a flickering point of steel. It is not the ferocity of the High Elves that wins their battles, but their peerless discipline, and the War Spear is the instrument through which that discipline is made deadly.
