Regenerating monster race

Trolls

Vast, stupid and endlessly hungry, trolls regrow their wounds as fast as they are dealt and vomit corrosive bile upon their prey.

The Trolls are lumbering horrors that infest the wild margins of the Old World, dwelling in fetid caves, drowned marshes and cold mountain hollows. Enormous and misshapen, a troll possesses a body that heals with unnatural speed, knitting torn flesh and regrowing severed limbs, so that only fire or the utter destruction of the beast can lay it low for good. Worse still is its stomach, which brims with churning acids the troll spews forth to dissolve armour and men alike.

Trolls are creatures of pure appetite and almost no wit, forgetting a thought before it is finished and eating anything that does not flee fast enough, be it livestock, stone, or their own kind. This idiocy makes them easy prey for the cunning, and the goblins of the Orc & Goblin Tribes herd them into war with fire and stolen food, unleashing them as living battering rams against the enemy line.

Different breeds haunt different lands: stone trolls dull to all magic, river trolls reeking of rot, and the pallid horrors of the frozen north. Wherever they dwell, they leave a wasteland of gnawed bones and slime. To face a troll is to fight hunger itself, tireless and unkillable, a beast too stupid to know that it should already be dead.
