The Norscans are the fierce tribes of the far north, dwelling amid the frozen fjords, black mountains and pine-dark valleys of Norsca, a bleak peninsula that juts toward the very Realm of Chaos. Raised in a land where the weak perish before their first winter, the Norscans reckon strength the only virtue and death in battle the only fitting end. From childhood they are taught that the gods of the north watch always, and reward the bold with glory and the craven with damnation.
Great dragon-prowed longships carry Norscan reavers south each season to fall upon the coasts of the civilised world, burning, looting and dragging thralls back to the ice. Marauder champions clad in furs and iron seek the favour of the Dark Gods through slaughter, and the greatest are marked with mutation and gifts, rising to join the Warriors of Chaos on their crusades against the south.
Yet the Norscans are more than mere savages. Theirs is a proud and ancient culture of skalds and shrines, of blood-feuds and oaths sworn on cold iron. They despise the soft folk of the Empire even as they covet their riches, and dream always of the day the whole world will kneel before the gods of the north.
