The Knights Panther are among the oldest of the templar orders of the Empire of Man, their origins reaching back to the great crusades against the raiders of Araby. It was in those distant wars that the order's founders slew the great cats of the southern lands and took their pelts as trophies, a custom that endures to this day in the leopard and panther skins draped across knightly shoulders and barded steeds.
Wealthy and proud, the Knights Panther are famed for their flamboyance, their armour chased with gold and their helms crowned with plumes and exotic finery. Yet beneath the peacock splendour lies genuine steel, for the order has never wanted for courage, and its knights charge home with a fury that has broken armies. Many a young noble of Altdorf and Talabheim dreams of earning a place among their glittering ranks.
The order maintains chapter-houses across the Empire and answers the summons of the Elector Counts in time of war. The Knights Panther have crossed lances with the dark raiders of the Dark Elves upon the coasts and ridden down warbands of Chaos in the northern marches. To the common folk they are a reassuring sight — a blaze of colour and glory amid the grim struggle for survival, proof that the age of heroes is not yet wholly spent.
