The Knights of the White Wolf are the templar order of the war-god Ulric, a brotherhood of ferocious horsemen sworn to the grim deity of battle, winter, and wolves. Where other knightly orders prize chivalry and courtly grace, the White Wolves prize raw courage and the fury of the charge, embodying their god's creed that strength is proven only in the crucible of combat. To ride with them is to worship through violence, and to count fear itself as the only true defeat.
The order is bound inseparably to the city of Middenheim, the great fortress-rock that is the heart of Ulric's faith and the seat of the Cult of Ulric. From its ancient temple the Ar-Ulric leads the wider worship of the war-god, and the Knights of the White Wolf serve as the martial fist of that faith, defending the city and carrying Ulric's wrath to his enemies across the Empire of Man. Membership is earned through feats of arms and unflinching devotion, for the order accepts only those who have proven their valour beyond doubt.
In battle the White Wolves are unmistakable. Scorning the shield as a crutch of the timid, they thunder into the foe wielding great two-handed cavalry hammers, trusting to momentum and ferocity to shatter whatever stands before them. Clad in furs and heavy armour, howling the name of their god, they strike like the winter storm itself, and few enemy lines can withstand the weight of their charge.
Proud, hardy, and disdainful of southern softness, the Knights of the White Wolf embody the fierce northern spirit of their homeland. They hold little patience for politics or ceremony, reckoning that a hammer swung true settles more disputes than any council. Yet beneath their savagery lies an iron loyalty, to their city, their god, and their Empire, and when the horns of war sound, there are few allies a general would rather have at his flank than the wolves of Middenheim.
