An Errantry War is a grand campaign of chivalric adventure launched by the King of Bretonnia, calling forth the realm's Knights Errant to prove their worth through deeds of arms. When a king proclaims such a war, young nobles who have yet to earn their spurs ride out in great numbers to seek glory against the enemies of Bretonnia and the Lady of the Lake.
These wars have carried Bretonnian knights far beyond their borders, into the greenskin-infested Badlands, against the raiders of the northern wastes, and even upon distant crusades. For a Knight Errant, an Errantry War is the crucible in which reputation is forged; return with tales of monsters slain and foes vanquished, and he may be raised to the rank of Knight of the Realm.
The most famous of these campaigns cleared the greenskin threat that once menaced the southern dukedoms, cementing the tradition as both a rite of passage and a vital instrument of the crown, channelling the reckless ardour of the young into the defence of the kingdom.
